We Build Decks All Over Tauranga
We provide a full range of decking services to suit every property and project. We build decks all over Mount Maunganui, Tauranga, Papamoa & the wider Bay of Plenty from new timber deck construction built from scratch to match your site, layout, and design goals, to floating decks that are perfect if you want a smart solution over existing concrete. We also carry out deck extensions, giving you more space or a better layout by expanding what you already have.
To make your outdoor area practical and safe, we design and build timber stairs and platforms that create easy access from your home, as well as balustrades and handrails that are fully compliant and tailored to match the style of your deck. If your deck is showing signs of age, our repairs and upgrades can re-strengthen, re-finish, or replace damaged areas, bringing it back to life.
We also offer commercial decking solutions for cafes, childcare centres, and business premises, ensuring durability, compliance, and a professional finish.
For smaller jobs, our maintenance services cover everything from fixing loose boards to replacing worn-out framing, keeping your deck safe and looking its best.
Every deck we build is constructed with durability, safety, and compliance in mind, so you can enjoy your outdoor space for years to come.

Types of Decking we use
Garapa – Premium & Elegant
Pine - Most Affordable
Pine is the most budget-friendly decking option. Treated pine is pressure-treated to withstand insects, decay, and weather exposure. It’s softer than hardwoods but easy to work with and can be painted or stained to suit your style. A solid choice if you’re after an affordable deck that still looks great.
Kwila – Durable & Rich in Colour
Kwila is one of New Zealand’s most popular hardwood decking timbers. It has a beautiful reddish-brown colour that naturally weathers to a silver-grey. Strong, stable, and long-lasting, Kwila offers a step up in quality compared to pine while staying in the mid-range price bracket.
Garapa is a golden-brown South American hardwood with a smooth, fine grain. It’s naturally resistant to rot, insects, and weather damage, giving it a luxurious finish. Garapa is one of the more expensive decking materials, chosen for high-end projects where a refined, timeless look is the goal.
Vitex – Sustainable & Light in Colour
Vitex is a sustainably harvested Pacific hardwood with a light brown tone that fades to a soft silver. It’s durable, stable, and has a natural coastal look that suits many Kiwi homes. Vitex is slightly higher in price than Kwila but is valued for its eco-credentials and attractive appearance.
Purpleheart – Exotic & Extremely Hard
Purpleheart stands out for its striking purple tones when freshly cut, which silvers off as it weathers. It’s one of the hardest and most durable decking timbers available, making it incredibly long-lasting. A premium option for those who want something truly unique.
Abodo – Eco-Friendly & Locally Sourced
Abodo is a New Zealand-grown alternative designed for sustainability. Heat-treated for durability, it’s stable, lightweight, and carries a warm, natural look that weathers beautifully over time. Abodo is perfect if you want an environmentally friendly decking option that’s locally made and designed to last.

Do You Need a Building Consent for a Deck or Verandah
in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga & Papamoa?”
Not all outdoor structures need consent — but it depends on the details.
Decks usually don’t need consent if the fall height is 1.5 metres or less, and they don’t affect the house’s structure or weathertightness.
Balustrades (guardrails) are still required if there's a fall of 1 metre or more, but this doesn’t trigger the need for consent on its own.
Verandahs, porches, and awnings can also be exempt — but only if they are:
- Up to 30 square metres, and
- On the ground floor, and
- Not enclosed (no walls or doors), and
- Built in a way that doesn’t affect the weathertightness or structure of the home.
We’ll check your design and location, and let you know if a consent is needed ,so you're always covered before the work starts.
